Jupiter’s Legacy, one of the most critically-acclaimed superhero series of the past decade, will have its trade paperbacks sent back to print this September.  Image Comics said this will give readers a chance to catch up before the Netflix Originals TV adaptation streams later this year.

Written by Mark Millar (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass), Jupiter’s Legacy is set in mid-century America. It follows the world’s greatest superheroes as they face epic threats in public while battling private scandals behind closed doors.

The trade paperback collection will have four volumes, featuring cover art by the multiple Eisner Award-winning Frank Quitely.

Several of Millar’s comic book series have landed on the big screen. These include Kick-Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and Wanted. The Ultimates, his modernized reimagining of Marvel’s Avengers comic franchise for its Ultimate Comics imprint, also influenced aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the Avengers.

In 2017, Netflix acquired Millarworld, Millar’s comic book imprint.

“Millar is no ordinary comic creator. You would have to go back to Stan Lee and his voluminous output during the golden age of Marvel to find a comic book writer whose work has so often been translated to the screen. Before launching Millarworld, which employs only a handful of staffers, Millar worked at Marvel in the early part of the 2000s, with the ideas and concepts he developed there popping up in Marvel Studios’ The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War and Fox’s Logan.”

Netflix announced the cast of their TV adaptation of Jupiter’s Legacy in February.

“The cast will be led by Transformers star Josh Duhamel, The Crown’s Ben Daniels, Iron Man’s Leslie Bibb, Sacred Lies’ Elena Kampouris and Doctors’ Andrew Horton. Jupiter’s Legacy centers on the world’s first generation of superheroes, who gained their powers in the 1930s. The series is set in the present day and follows the elder statesmen of the superhero world, as well as their children.

“Duhamel will play Sheldon Sampson, also known as The Utopian, who is the leader of the superhero group The Union. He’s a man who no longer understands the world or his family.

“Daniels is playing Sheldon’s brilliant older brother Walter Sampson, also known as Brain-Wave, while Bibb is playing Grace Sampson, the extremely powerful hero Lady Liberty and wife of Sheldon.”
