“Ice Cream” is the second single from BLACKPINK’s upcoming first studio album in South Korea, after “How You Like That“. The K-pop girl group’s debut Korean album, BLACKPINK: The Album, will come out on Oct. 2.

BLINKS and Selenators, the fans of BLACKPINK and Gomez, respectively, have united behind the collaboration, which they have dubbed SELPINK. They have been eagerly awaiting the release of the song since the announcement of the collaboration on Aug. 12.

“Ice Cream” is BLACKPINK’s third collaboration with another artist. The first was “Kiss and Make Up” with Dua Lipa in 2018, followed by “Sour Candy” with Lady Gaga in May this year.

Interestingly, international pop star Ariana Grande revealed that she co-wrote “Ice Cream”. Earlier, fans had speculated that Grande was the mystery artist teased by BLACKPINK’s music company YG Entertainment when it first announced the collaboration.

BLACKPINK, composed of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, has become popular in the past few years with international audiences. The quartet also made history last year. They became the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella in the music festival’s 20-year history.

BLACKPINK is also the highest-charting female K-pop act on the Billboard Hot 100. They peaked at #33 on June 13 for “Sour Candy”, and then tied their own record with “How You Like That” on July 11.
