Launching on April 8, the Netflix Original Anime Series “The Way of the Househusband” is an adaptation of the cozy gangster comedy manga.
Feared among the yakuza as “The Immortal Dragon”, Tatsu is a legend of the underworld with an impressive number of defeated rival gangs under his belt. However, hoping to wash his hands of his past, Tatsu gets married and devotes himself fully to “The Way of the Househusband”.
Tales of ‘The Immortal Dragon’
Incidentally, in the Philippines, the Filipino slang word takusa is a play on yakuza, and is short for “takot sa asawa (afraid of his wife)”. Not that we would dream of implying that Tatsu is a henpecked husband. We’re joking, we’re joking.

In fact, it’s admirable that “The Immortal Dragon”, whose wife is Miku, has become a full-time househusband, diligently undertaking the cooking, cleaning, washing, and grocery shopping each day.

One person, however, is not happy about Tatsu’s new domestic life — his tough, former yakuza underling, Masa. As Tatsu tries his best to pursue the way of the househusband, one assassin after another tries their hand at taking him out.

“The Way of the Househusband” is based on the popular and critically acclaimed manga by Oono Kousuke, with series composition by Yamakawa Susumu. Directing this Netflix Original Anime Series is Kon Chiaki (“Nodame Cantabile” and “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal”).

J.C.STAFF is producing this anime, whose cast includes Tsuda Kenjiro, Ito Shizuka, and Okitsu Kazuyuki.

Meanwhile, the Japanese band Uchikubi Gokumon-Doukouka, which calls itself simply Gokumon in the US, performs the theme song.

Are you ready for “The Way of the Househusband”? Don’t miss it on April 8, only on Netflix.
