Street Fighter fan favorites Chun-Li and Ryu are making their way to the battle royale mobile game Free Fire in a global collaboration between Garena and Capcom.

Street Fighter revolutionized fighting video games. It is a franchise many of us grew up with, playing as its iconic characters like Ryu and Chun-Li. Bringing a part of Street Fighter into Free Fire and welcoming Ryu and Chun-Li to Bermuda is something our players will enjoy,” said Harold Teo, Free Fire Producer at Garena, in a press statement.

Expanding Free Fire experience

In today’s global announcement, Garena said the collaboration will go live in July, bringing Street Fighter V content into Free Fire. Chun-Li and Ryu will be accompanied by a lot of exclusive content and experiences, including a full interface reskin, new activities, and themed collectibles.

This collaboration with Capcom builds on Garena’s strategy of expanding the Free Fire experience by working with some of the world’s most recognizable brands.

Most recently, Garena announced collaborations to bring international football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and anime series “Attack on Titan” into Free Fire.

Garena tapped Cristiano Ronaldo as a global brand ambassador, not only creating an all-new Free Fire character named Chrono based on the famous Portuguese footballer, but also building a whole universe around this character.

Developed and published by Capcom, Street Fighter is one of the world’s highest-grossing video game franchises of all time. It has sold 46 million units worldwide as of March 31 this year. Street Fighter V was released for the PlayStation 4 and PC in 2016.

Free Fire is an immersive battle royale game created specifically for mobile gamers. Developed and published globally by Garena, Free Fire achieved a record high of over 100 million peak daily active users in 2020.
