Joining Playfix, reviving Digital Life Asia

Technology column header

The comeback took longer than expected, but after a long hiatus, Digital Life Asia is here for you again. This time as my personal blog, but still an online publication that will cover technology, science, gaming, geek culture, and entertainment across Asia.

Finding my ikigai

A lot has happened since, not least of all me joining blockchain gaming startup as Head of Content. Playfix offers a blockchain game platform that provides an all-in-one solution for developers to easily build, launch, and grow web3 games and NFTs.

Working for Playfix has also played an important part in helping me find my ikigai.

Translated as “reason for living”, the Japanese concept of ikigai is basically defined as the convergence of four areas of your life: what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.

I am humbled by all the blessings I have received in the past few months, including being invited to become a speaker at Money Summit 2022. Launched in 2010, Money Summit is the pioneering and biggest investment conference in the Philippines.

This year, they included an NFT & Collectibles Summit, where I gave a webinar on “NFTs as digital assets: Creating value, debunking myths”.

Can I just say I love this intro video they made for me?

One of the things I emphasized during my talk is that NFTs aren’t just about making money. They’re about rewarding creators and communities.

For example, we’ve always had great artists in the Philippines. But they found it hard to sell their art before NFTs.

Not because they weren’t good artists, but because no one knew about their art. NFTs leveled the playing field and made a new global audience aware of them. Sure, it’s because NFTs are new and there’s a lot of hype about them. But how can one argue against helping artists?
