After four long years, the BLACKPINK full album is in our area. And if we were to sum up our “THE ALBUM” review, it would be: Definitely worth the wait.

“THE ALBUM” has already set a K-pop girl group record, with more than one million stock pre-orders. The music video of the title track “Lovesick Girls” has also become the fastest K-pop girl group MV to reach 10 million views on YouTube, breaking their own record for “Ice Cream”. More than the records and accolades, however, you can tell that Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa truly poured their heart and soul into making this album. As fans we can feel the sheer joy of finally experiencing BLACKPINK unleashed. Every song is powerful and meaningful. Now we can finally understand what they meant all these years when they insisted on quality over quantity.

‘Lovesick Girls’ BLACKPINK MV makes world premiere

The day BLINKS have spent four years waiting for has finally arrived. Today, BLACKPINK launched “THE ALBUM”, which is their first full album in South Korea. The music video (MV) of their title track “Lovesick Girls”, which includes Jisoo and Jennie in the writing credits, also made its world premiere.

The K-pop girl group held a live stream on V LIVE at 9 AM Philippine Standard Time (PST) ahead of the album launch. During the live stream, they showed a brief “making of” film of the “Lovesick Girls” MV. BLACKPINK has already set a new record prior to the album launch, as “THE ALBUM” has surpassed one million stock pre-orders.

YouTube is featuring K-pop girl group BLACKPINK in the season premiere of its new weekly music show “RELEASED”.

The debut episode will be available on the official BLACKPINK YouTube channel tomorrow at 11: 45 AM Philippine Standard Time (PST). This is just ahead of the launch of their first full album in South Korea and the world premiere of the music video of its title track “Lovesick Girls”.

“But when it was the four of us, the whole thing worked.” The “Light Up the Sky” trailer for the BLACKPINK documentary of Netflix is already up on the streaming site. BLINKS should prepare to cry.

“BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky”, which streams on Oct. 14, is the very first Netflix K-pop original documentary. As promised when Netflix announced the documentary, “Light Up the Sky” includes never-before-seen footage — including the pre-debut days of the four young trainees who would one day become the “biggest girl group in the world“.

The “Lovesick Girls” MV teaser is here, and Twitter is going crazy over this sneak peek at the music video of the title track of BLACKPINK’s first full album in South Korea.

On Sept. 28, YG Entertainment confirmed “Lovesick Girls” as the title track of “THE ALBUM”. The “Lovesick Girls” teaser poster showed members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa apparently posing as the two ships that the girl group’s fans — called BLINKS — are very familiar with: Chaesoo (Rosé and Jisoo) and Jenlisa (Jennie and Lisa). BLINKS were also overjoyed when yesterday’s tracklist poster revealed that Jisoo and Jennie were included in the writing credits of “Lovesick Girls“.

It’s official: K-pop girl group BLACKPINK is collaborating with American rapper Cardi B. YG Entertainment officially confirmed the BLACKPINK-Cardi B collab when it unveiled the tracklist poster of “THE ALBUM” this morning.

“Bet You Wanna” is the BLACKPINK-Cardi B collab single. It also lists songwriter and OneRepublic lead vocalist Ryan Tedder in the writing credits. Meanwhile, BLACKPINK fans — called BLINKS — are also overjoyed to see the names of the girl group’s members Jisoo and Jennie in the writing credits of the title track “Lovesick Girls“.

(UPDATE) YG Entertainment has officially confirmed “Lovesick Girls” as the title track of “THE ALBUM”, BLACKPINK’s highly anticipated first full album in South Korea. The South Korean entertainment company posted the “Lovesick Girls” teaser poster this morning, and unveiled this concept teaser video this afternoon.

This is part of the daily countdown to the BLACKPINK album launch on Oct. 2. It features members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa apparently posing as the two ships that the girl group’s fans — called BLINKS — are very familiar with: Chaesoo (Rosé and Jisoo) and Jenlisa (Jennie and Lisa).

Gamers and K-pop fans have been living in the virtual world for many years now. Decades, in fact, in the case of gamers. Now it’s time for the rest of the world to catch up.

In last week’s column piece, I talked about how geeks are inheriting the earth. Today, I’m going to point out that this new world we’re inheriting is an increasingly virtual one. There is no going back to the pre-COVID world. The digital transformation of the world is here to stay, and this will have a profound impact on human society, changing the way we work and play.

‘How You Like That’: BLACKPINK beats BTS on YouTube

"How You Like That" surpassed 100 million views on YouTube in record time.

Guess who dethroned BTS? BLACKPINK’s music video for its highly-anticipated comeback single “How You Like That” has set a new YouTube record for 24-hour views.

“The K-pop powerhouse group’s dynamic new single had 82.4 million views in the first 24 hours of release on YouTube, and was the No. 1 trending video on the platform. The view count handily topped the previous record-holders: BTS’ ‘Boy With Luv’ featuring Halsey, which amassed 74.6 million views in the initial one-day period in April 2019, per YouTube.”
