BrightWin wins in LINE Thailand People’s Choice Awards

Thai actors Vachirawit Chivaaree (better known as Bright Vachirawit) and Metawin Opas-iamkajorn (better known as Win Metawin), whom their fans call BrightWin, were named Best Couple last night at the LINE Thailand People’s Choice Awards 2020.

BrightWin starred in the boys’ love Thai TV series “2gether: The Series” and its sequel “Still 2gether”. The immense popularity of “2gether: The Series” helped put an international spotlight on the boys’ love genre, with Netflix also acquiring the streaming rights for the show and its sequel.

Japanese boy band Arashi today released their first English song, “Whenever You Call‘, which is written and produced by Bruno Mars. The popular boy band had the world’s best-selling album in 2019, beating Taylor Swift.

The digital single is available for streaming and download, and a music video has been uploaded to the official YouTube channel of Arashi.

The Japanese government has appointed Hatsune Miku, one of the world’s most popular virtual idols, as Coronavirus Countermeasure Supporter.

Developed by Sapporo-based music technology company Crypton Future Media, INC., Hatsune Miku is a singing voice synthesizer featured in over 100,000 songs released worldwide. Her name means “the first sound from the future”.

Cyberbullying: Toxic online culture kills Hana Kimura

Hana Kimura died at age 22. A victim of cyberbullying.

The news broke my heart on Saturday, May 24. Hana was one of my favorite pro wrestlers, even though I didn’t know her until she became a housemate on the popular Japanese reality TV show on Netflix, “Terrace House”. Hana is half-Japanese, half-Indonesian, and a second-generation pro wrestler, being the daughter of retired pro wrestler and mixed martial arts fighter Kyoko Kimura. Later I would find out that her Indonesian dad left before Hana was a year old, and that his identity isn’t publicly known.
