‘BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky’ review: You never know

Even if you don’t know anything about BLACKPINK or K-pop, the Netflix documentary “BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky” would still be worth watching because it’s a well-made film about four articulate female artists with compelling stories to tell.

For those of us who are BLINKS, however, watching “BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky” is a very emotional experience. Even those who were BLACKPINK fans from the very beginning of their journey will still feel awed and grateful. Our idols truly opened up to Korean American documentary director Caroline Suh and made themselves vulnerable. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa spoke with so much insight and candor because they wanted to tell their story to the whole world. And it turns out that what they said in their song was true: you never know.

BLACKPINK album debuts at No. 2 on US Billboard 200

The BLACKPINK album “THE ALBUM” has debuted at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 with 110,000 units earned, of which 81,000 are pure album sales.

Not only has the BLACKPINK album become the highest-charting K-pop girl group album in the history of the Billboard 200, but also BLACKPINK had the highest-charting album by an all-female group since Danity Kane in 2008.

The “Lovesick Girls” MV teaser is here, and Twitter is going crazy over this sneak peek at the music video of the title track of BLACKPINK’s first full album in South Korea.

On Sept. 28, YG Entertainment confirmed “Lovesick Girls” as the title track of “THE ALBUM”. The “Lovesick Girls” teaser poster showed members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa apparently posing as the two ships that the girl group’s fans — called BLINKS — are very familiar with: Chaesoo (Rosé and Jisoo) and Jenlisa (Jennie and Lisa). BLINKS were also overjoyed when yesterday’s tracklist poster revealed that Jisoo and Jennie were included in the writing credits of “Lovesick Girls“.

It’s official: K-pop girl group BLACKPINK is collaborating with American rapper Cardi B. YG Entertainment officially confirmed the BLACKPINK-Cardi B collab when it unveiled the tracklist poster of “THE ALBUM” this morning.

“Bet You Wanna” is the BLACKPINK-Cardi B collab single. It also lists songwriter and OneRepublic lead vocalist Ryan Tedder in the writing credits. Meanwhile, BLACKPINK fans — called BLINKS — are also overjoyed to see the names of the girl group’s members Jisoo and Jennie in the writing credits of the title track “Lovesick Girls“.

(UPDATE) YG Entertainment has officially confirmed “Lovesick Girls” as the title track of “THE ALBUM”, BLACKPINK’s highly anticipated first full album in South Korea. The South Korean entertainment company posted the “Lovesick Girls” teaser poster this morning, and unveiled this concept teaser video this afternoon.

This is part of the daily countdown to the BLACKPINK album launch on Oct. 2. It features members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa apparently posing as the two ships that the girl group’s fans — called BLINKS — are very familiar with: Chaesoo (Rosé and Jisoo) and Jenlisa (Jennie and Lisa).
