Star-studded D&D virtual event to unveil new storyline
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dungeons & Dragons is bringing D&D Live 2020: Roll w/ Advantage online and raising money for Red Nose Day. This D&D virtual event on June 18-20 will feature live gaming sessions with celebrities and WWE Superstars while revealing the new D&D storyline.
The celebrities and D&D luminaries featured in the teaser video include Thomas Middleditch, David Harbour, Deborah Ann Woll, Jeremy Crawford, Chris Perkins, Kevin Sussman, Matthew Lillard, Sam Richardson, Karen Gillan, and Brandon Routh.
Latest D&D storyline
“We’re bringing D&D’s brightest stars to this virtual table to preview the latest D&D storyline with live gaming sessions, all while raising money for Red Nose Day to help children affected by the COVID-19 outbreak,” Dungeons & Dragons announced on its website.
So what can we expect from this D&D virtual event? Live play games, announcements, and panels will take place throughout the event.
On Day 1, esports media personality and Twitch producer/host Anna Prosser will host the D&D Adventure and Product Reveal. Day 1 will also feature a D&D Live Game with Woll as the Dungeon Master (DM). Her players will include Lillard, Richardson, Amy Acker, and Janina Gavankar.
Day 2 will have a D&D Red Nose Day Game with Perkins as the DM.
His players will include Felicia Day, Brett Gelman, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Martin Starr. A Comedians Play D&D session will also be held on that day, with the players including Middleditch, Sussman, and Brian Posehn.
Meanwhile, the Day 3 activities include a Lost Odyssey Heroes Game, which Perkins will also DM. His players will include Harbour and Brandon Routh. Later that day, Crawford will DM a D&D WWE Game. His players will include WWE Superstars Alexa Bliss, Tyler Breeze, Dio Maddin, Ember Moon, and Xavier Woods.
Remote participation
Dungeons & Dragons also said the D&D virtual event will enable remote participation.
By donating a small amount to Red Nose Day (of US$10 or more), fans will be able to register through the D&D Live Event Portal. Once registered, fans will gain access to advance registration for future D&D sessions (when available). D&D Adventurers League also offers four new short adventures everyone can enjoy.
Fans will also be able to choose the character best suited to help the region through Reality RP. This is a mashup of fantasy storytelling, community engagement, and reality television.
Not only that, but also Dungeons & Dragons has partnered with Red Nose Day to create event apparel and a special adventure. All funds raised will go directly to the Red Nose Day Fund/Comic Relief US.
Called Return to the Glory, this special adventure is designed for orc characters, levels 6-8.
