Riot Games to launch VALORANT on June 2

Riot Games is launching VALORANT on June 2.

Are you ready to compete with players all over the world in VALORANT? Riot Games has announced that its free-to-play competitive 5v5 character-based tactical shooter for the PC will launch on June 2. The PC version will be available to download for free.

Players in Southeast Asia will be able to play VALORANT on PC in English, Bahasa Indonesia, Thai, and Traditional Chinese. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese language will be available later this year. Taiwan will not be part of the global launch. This is due to additional technical integration work necessary to comply with local requirements. Riot Games, however, expects the game to be up and running in Taiwan in the next few weeks.

Building the VALORANT community

“Our goal has always been to bring VALORANT to as much of the world as soon as possible, and we’re hyped to be able to do so on June 2,” Anna Donlon, VALORANT Executive Producer at Riot Games, said in a press statement.

“Launch also comes with higher standards and expectations, and we want to have those conversations with players to continue our decades-long commitment to servicing the global VALORANT community. This is just the beginning of our journey, not the finish line,” Donlon added.

VALORANT features high-fidelity gunplay and a diverse arsenal of guns. It has agents with unique abilities and competitively tuned maps for thousands of hours of play.

The VALORANT team has also committed to deliver new game content, game modes, agents, and maps shortly after launch.

To meet rising player demand, Riot Games has also prioritized additional new game server deployments on their short-term roadmap in order to lower latency for VALORANT players.

Letting the whole world play

In a previous interview with Digital Life Asia, Jennifer Poulson, Head of Publishing and Product for Southeast Asia of Riot Games, said gaming is community entertainment.

One of the great things about VALORANT is that it’s optimized to perform on a wide variety of PC hardware. This allows a global audience to compete and enjoy the game.

Apart from this, Riot Games provides best-in-class game server quality, a global infrastructure, and proprietary anti-cheat technology. The company seeks to preserve the core tenets of the tactical shooter genre. It also aims to ensure the competitive integrity of the gameplay experience.
