Thai actors Vachirawit Chivaaree (better known as Bright Vachirawit) and Metawin Opas-iamkajorn (better known as Win Metawin), whom their fans call BrightWin, were named Best Couple last night at the LINE Thailand People’s Choice Awards 2020.

BrightWin starred in the boys’ love Thai TV series “2gether: The Series” and its sequel “Still 2gether”. The immense popularity of “2gether: The Series” helped put an international spotlight on the boys’ love genre, with Netflix also acquiring the streaming rights for the show and its sequel.

Best Couple of 2020

The 2020 Thai series produced by GMMTV is adapted from JittiRain’s 2019 novel of the same name.

BrightWin portrayed the two college boys who begin a fake romantic relationship but start to develop real feelings for each other. Bright played Sarawat Guntithanon, while Win was Tine Teepakorn.

The two actors have become so popular that their first online global fan meet, which was held by GMMTV on the South Korean streaming site V Live in partnership with Philippine telco Globe Telecom, was “liked” on V Live more than a billion times.

“One of those notable moments included Win and Bright turning emotional over a touching video fans made for them. In their succeeding performance, Win could barely hold back his tears a second time, prompting Bright to pull him in for a hug twice, a sequence their fans would not forget any time soon.”

BrightWin in ‘Meteor Garden’

After the success of their boys’ love series, Bright and Win are set to star in Thailand’s remake of “Meteor Garden”. “Meteor Garden”, which aired in Taiwan in 2001, was the first live-action TV drama based on the Japanese manga “Boys Over Flowers” written by Yoko Kamio.

The manga has been adapted into several live-action TV series in different countries. “Meteor Garden” was followed by “Hana Yori Dango” in Japan in 2005 and 2007. In 2009, the “Boys Over Flowers” TV drama aired in South Korea, while mainland China came out with “Meteor Garden” as a Netflix Original in 2018.

Now it’s Thailand’s turn to put its own spin to “Meteor Garden” and retell the story of the F4 gang.

“Bright will play Thyme, who is reportedly the character equivalent of F4 leader Dao Ming Si, while Win will play the role of Kavin or Xi Men.”

Are you excited to watch BrightWin in the “Meteor Garden” remake? One thing’s for sure: the future is bright for BrightWin.
