Lisa of BLACKPINK named CELINE’s global ambassador
Thai rapper, singer and dancer Lalisa Manoban, better known as Lisa of BLACKPINK, is now the global brand ambassador of French fashion house CELINE.
Lisa is CELINE’s first global ambassador since Hedi Slimane took the helm in 2018 as Artistic, Creative and Image Director. Founded in 1945 by Céline Vipiana, CELINE has been owned by LVMH since 1996.
New face of CELINE
Last year, Lisa attended her first Paris Fashion Week as Slimane’s official muse for CELINE.
Becoming the new global brand ambassador, however, takes Lisa’s relationship with CELINE to a whole new level.
“Slimane even photographed the dancer, singer, and rapper himself for a series of black-and-white portraits.
‘To me, Celine is unrivaled, and Hedi Slimane has such a multifaceted talent—from clothing design to photography,’ Lisa said of her new role. ‘He creates this rare, incredible, and desirable world through his vision. I’m always inspired by his work. It’s truly an honor and pleasure to be able to work with Hedi as Celine’s first ambassador.’
K-pop and fashion
Lisa and her fellow BLACKPINK members Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé, who represent French fashion houses Dior, Chanel, and Saint Laurent, respectively, are appearing on the October 2020 cover of ELLE’s US edition.
The ELLE cover story points out the role that fashion plays not only in each member’s personal style, but also BLACKPINK’s music.
“Music and fashion are further entwined in the group’s own saturated visuals. Lisa descends the steps of an Egyptian tomb in a floor-length sequined Celine gown at the start of the video for ‘How You Like That.’ Straight to camera, she intones the group’s now-iconic battle cry, ‘Blackpink in your area!'”
Now that Lisa is officially the global brand ambassador of CELINE, expect even better things to come.
“Since then, Lisa has been blessing us with ensembles that allow her to tap into that ever-desirable Parisian aesthetic, while still adding her own spin to make the Celine catwalk looks her own. Plus, she was photographed by Hedi Slimane during her trip to Paris earlier this year, which fashion fans will know means that she’s a favourite of the celebrated designer. A big deal.
“Now that the star’s relationship with the house has been formalised, something tells us that the best Lisa-in-Celine moments are yet to come.”
And with the K-pop girl group coming out with their first full album in South Korea on Oct. 2, and the first Netflix K-pop original documentary “BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky” streaming on Oct. 14, BLACKPINK is truly in our area.
