BLACKPINK ‘Light Up the Sky’ trailer up on Netflix
“But when it was the four of us, the whole thing worked.” The “Light Up the Sky” trailer for the BLACKPINK documentary of Netflix is already up on the streaming site. BLINKS should prepare to cry.
“BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky”, which streams on Oct. 14, is the very first Netflix K-pop original documentary. As promised when Netflix announced the documentary, “Light Up the Sky” includes never-before-seen footage — including the pre-debut days of the four young trainees who would one day become the “biggest girl group in the world“.
Four girls, one dream
“All I wanted was people to see the potential in us,” Jennie said in the trailer.
BLACKPINK has certainly shown the world that and more, but the documentary takes us back to the days when Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa were just among several YG Entertainment trainees dreaming of one day debuting as K-pop idols.
This trailer alone contains many moments that will make BLINKS — the fans of BLACKPINK — tear up, particularly for those who have been following them since they first debuted four years ago on Aug. 8, 2016.
“The K-pop phenomenon has been sweeping the globe and BLACKPINK has arguably become the most recognizable and most popular girl group in the world,” said Netflix VP for Documentary Features Adam Del Deo in a press statement announcing the documentary.
“Director Caroline Suh’s trusted relationship with Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa offers organic and honest moments that give viewers an authentic inside look into the lives of BLACKPINK, as well as the dedication and grueling preparation each member puts into every hit song, history-making performance, and sold-out arena tour. We’re thrilled to bring their story to their fans worldwide,” Del Deo said.
Four long years after they debuted, BLACKPINK will finally release their first full album in South Korea, called simply “THE ALBUM”.
“THE ALBUM” has eight tracks, including “How You Like That” and “Ice Cream”, which were released ahead of the album launch. The six new songs are the title track “Love Sick Girls”; the collab with Cardi B, “Bet You Wanna”; “Pretty Savage”, “Crazy Over You”, “Love To Hate Me”, and “You Never Know”.
“THE ALBUM” will be launched on digital platforms on Oct. 2 at 1 PM KST (12 NN PST), while the physical album will be released on Oct. 6.
