Netflix has finally revealed the character that “Sense8”, “Narcos”, and “Sky Rojo” actor Miguel Ángel Silvestre is playing in “Money Heist”(“La casa de papel“) Season 5 Vol. 1.
The streaming giant has also introduced the two other new characters that will be appearing in this fifth and final season of the phenomenally popular Spanish heist crime drama series.
Silvestre’s character was actually mentioned and shown at the very beginning of the story of the “Money Heist” series. “My name is Tokyo. But when this story began, it wasn’t. This was me… and this, the love of my life. The last time I saw him I left him in a pool of blood with his eyes open.”
The man she loved
In Season 1 of “Money Heist”, the first character we meet is Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó), holed up in a motorhome, running from the police and suffering an indescribable loss — the love of her life.
Now we will get to meet Silvestre as René, the man Tokyo started mugging with, with whom she traveled and enjoyed life. The man she loved before Silene Oliveira discovered that sometimes things in her perfect little world can go terribly wrong.
According to Berlin (Pedro Alonso), a child is “a nuclear warhead that’s going to destroy everything”.
Years later, audiences are introduced to Berlin’s son, Rafael, played by Patrick Criado (“Riot Police”). Rafael is now 31 years old, has studied computer engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is incredibly clear about one thing: he doesn’t want to be like his father.
Goodbye beautiful
Another new character coming into play this season is Sagasta, commander of the Special Forces of the Spanish Army, played by José Manuel Seda (“Perdóname, Señor”).
He is experienced in countless international missions against the worst of the human species, which makes him precisely the same as the men he has killed. He is a born leader, whom his men will follow to the end if he asks them to, because he is just like them. When he puts on the uniform, he becomes cold and ruthless, capable of going beyond any ethical or moral convention if the mission requires it.
“Captain, I’m bringing the military in. They’ll come out victorious or come out dead,” Colonel Luis Tamayo declares in the “Money Heist” Season 5 Vol. 1 trailer.
The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery will turn into a war.
Who will survive?
“Money Heist” Season 5 Vol. 1 premieres on Netflix on Sept. 3.
