Baby Blue, the first MNL48 sub-unit formed by the Philippines’ Hallohallo Entertainment in partnership with Tower Records Japan, has released the music video of their debut single “Sweet Talking Sugar”.

Composed of MNL48 members Jan, Amy, and Coleen, the girl group Baby Blue is the first MNL48 sub-unit. The trio will deliver all-original songs and highlight R&B and hip-hop. MNL48, the first Filipino idol group, is an international sister group of the famous Japanese idol girl group AKB48.

“I am beyond grateful to be part of this group and I am very much excited for the launching of it. Baby Blue’s music is a bit different from what we usually do but I really enjoy trying different genres and being versatile with music, so I hope you guys will love and appreciate our songs,” Coleen said in an update posted on the MNL48 site.

Baby Blue’s first single, “Sweet Talking Sugar”, was released on Sept. 1 and made available on Tower Records Japan’s digital music subscription service Eggs and other platforms.

Tower Records Japan launched the music video on Eggs on Sept. 16, after which it premiered in the Philippines on Sept. 17 on the official YouTube channel of MNL48.

“Even though it’s a bit different from what we usually do, we had a chance to showcase our own personality and unique style on this,” Amy said on the MNL48 site.

“I’m confident that it will suit your taste. We had different settings that are very pleasant to the eyes. You will definitely enjoy watching it,” Jan added.

“Sweet Talking Sugar” made it to the top spot of Tower Records Japan’s Eggs platform. Baby Blue also became the No. 1 artist on Eggs.
