‘Lovesick Girls’ is BLACKPINK 1st full album title track
(UPDATE) YG Entertainment has officially confirmed “Lovesick Girls” as the title track of “THE ALBUM”, BLACKPINK’s highly anticipated first full album in South Korea. The South Korean entertainment company posted the “Lovesick Girls” teaser poster this morning, and unveiled this concept teaser video this afternoon.
This is part of the daily countdown to the BLACKPINK album launch on Oct. 2. It features members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa apparently posing as the two ships that the girl group’s fans — called BLINKS — are very familiar with: Chaesoo (Rosé and Jisoo) and Jenlisa (Jennie and Lisa).

While the K-pop girl group has achieved international success since it debuted four years ago on Aug. 8, 2016, BLACKPINK did this without having a full album in South Korea. BLINKS have been clamoring for a BLACKPINK full album all these years, and finally their wish has been granted.
Excitement has been at a fever pitch as BLINKS have been promoting the album on social media and speculating over every detail and rumor. In fact, on Sept. 4, YG Entertainment announced that “THE ALBUM” has already “surpassed 800,000 stock pre-orders in just six days“.
BLACKPINK will hold a live stream event on the South Korean streaming service V LIVE on Oct. 2, three hours before the digital release of “THE ALBUM”.
Simply called “Comeback Live”, the live stream will start at 10 AM Korean Standard Time (9 AM Philippine Standard Time). “THE ALBUM” will be launched on digital platforms at 1 PM KST (12 NN PST), while the physical album will be released on Oct. 6.

BLACKPINK has also created a Spotify playlist to share their favorite tracks from other artists, in preparation for the digital launch of “THE ALBUM” on Oct. 2. Those who follow the Spotify playlist, dubbed as “BLACKPINK presents THE ALBUM”, will be among the first to hear BLACKPINK’s new album. Spotify announced the playlist on Sept. 25.
One of the tracks on “THE ALBUM” is “Ice Cream“, BLACKPINK’s collaboration with international pop star Selena Gomez. The song debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. This is a career-best rank for BLACKPINK, and also makes them the first K-pop girl group to enter the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The first single from “THE ALBUM”, “How You Like That”, reached No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100. This matched the K-pop girl group’s previous record that they set earlier this year with their “Sour Candy” collaboration with Lady Gaga.
Are you excited to hear “Lovesick Girls” and watch the music video on Oct. 2? And have you already pre-ordered “THE ALBUM”?
