YG Entertainment announced today that the BLACKPINK online concert BLACKPINK: THE SHOW will now be held on Jan. 31 instead of Dec. 27.

“We can’t wait to meet our BLINKS as soon as possible, but in order to comply with the Korean COVID-19 prevention guidelines and to ensure a safe performance, unfortunately we have made the decision to postpone THE SHOW from December 27th to January 31st of next year,” said BLACKPINK member Jisoo in the message video that was posted on the official BLACKPINK Twitter account and YouTube channel.

COVID-19 guidelines

BLACKPINK: THE SHOW is the first BLACKPINK online concert. It will stream live from the YG Palm Stage, in partnership with YouTube Music.

The BLACKPINK online concert sponsors include Philippine telco Globe Telecom, which recently announced BLACKPINK as its latest brand ambassadors, and Indonesian ecommerce company Tokopedia.

In its statement published by Soompi, YG Entertainment cited the new COVID-19 guidelines. They apologized for the inconvenience and announced the refund.

“It is an inevitable decision that had to be made due to the raise of the social distancing level in metropolitan areas to prevent the spread of COVID-19, so we ask fans for their kind understanding. Furthermore, the local government that has jurisdiction over the concert’s venue has given an administrative order that prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people until December 28, which is stricter than the government’s 2.5 level social distancing (limits assembly of more than 50 people).

“The agency and members of BLACKPINK all think it is unfortunate that the concert was postponed.

“We will work harder for the fans who are waiting and bring you an even better concert.”

To watch the first BLACKPINK online concert, fans should go to the BLACKPINK YouTube channel, click on the Join button, and complete the membership process to buy access to the online show.

“As the year comes to an end, please stay safe and healthy and see you next year at THE SHOW,” said Lisa in the video.

See you next year, BLINKS!
