After a long wait, YG Entertainment is finally making the highly anticipated Lisa solo debut official with the release of the first teaser poster at 12 midnight Korean Standard Time on Aug. 23.
Fans of the BLACKPINK main dancer and lead rapper, who have been clamoring for updates on her solo debut for months after YG Entertainment announced it was coming out this year, made LISA IS COMING trend on Twitter worldwide and in their respective countries to celebrate the release of the first Lisa solo teaser poster. The teaser poster did not give a date for the Thai K-pop star’s solo debut, only saying that it was “coming soon”.
8 million YouTube subscribers
BLACKPINK Lisa, who is the maknae or youngest member of the girl group, is one of the most popular K-pop idols in the world. In fact, on Aug. 21 her official YouTube channel Lilifilm Official hit eight million subscribers, extending her lead as the most-subscribed K-pop female solo individual artist on the platform.
Lisa’s popularity makes her one of the most sought-after endorsers around the world.
She recently took part in Magnifica, the new brand campaign of Bvlgari, of which she is a global brand ambassador.
In September 2020, Lisa became CELINE’s first global ambassador since Hedi Slimane took the helm in 2018 as Artistic, Creative and Image Director. Founded in 1945 by Céline Vipiana, CELINE has been owned by LVMH since 1996.
Then, in October 2020, MAC Cosmetics named Lisa as its new global brand ambassador. She is the first female K-pop idol to become a global brand ambassador for MAC.
The power of Lisa
On Feb. 12, 2021, Lisa released LILI’s FILM [The Movie], the latest dance video on her YouTube channel, which she performed to the music of “Tomboy” by American singer Destiny Rogers.
The video went viral and introduced millions of new fans to the music of Rogers, who thanked Lisa on social media.
Rogers later was able to thank Lisa personally in a video call.
Recounting the conversation in an episode of Fun With Dumb, the American singer revealed in the session that Lisa saved her career.
“Not a lot of people know about this, but my business manager had called me like top of the year and was like, you’re like you have like four months left till you’re at zero. And I was like f*ck I’m gonna have to move back home. I was running out of money. And I was like what the f*ck I need to do something. And so literally I was just like I was f*cking praying… Two weeks later, the Lisa video happened,” Rogers told the hosts.
The long wait is almost over. The Lisa solo debut album is coming!
