To accelerate the growth of the Asian esports ecosystem, Singapore-based venture capital fund KK Fund has announced the launch of the first eSports X Business Asia Summit (EXB Asia Summit). KK Fund is holding EXB Asia Summit, which is open for public participation with no registration fee, on April 21-22, in partnership with leading Thai esports startup Infofed and global media agency dentsu X.

“Asia has the world’s largest audience of esports players and fans and has generated nearly half of all global esports revenue thus far. Though there is significant growth potential, the esports industry in the region is still young. The summit is therefore a concerted effort to kickstart better collaboration, communication and education to further develop the ecosystem,” said KK Fund Founder and General Partner Koichi Saito in a press statement.

“Of course, overall the gaming market is increasing significantly, and in the meantime represents a big share of the total monitor market. And having this big group of users in the gaming industry of course is driving the high-end, best equipment possible and available in the market. And here of course it’s difficult to pin down numbers, but we expect that a good part of 10 percent up to 15 percent of the users in the market will be those that drive the desire for high-end gaming machines where the Porsche Design AOC AGON belongs to,” said AOC Europe Director Marketing and Business Management Stefan Sommer in response to a question from Digital Life Asia at the virtual launch.

Grassroots esports: Riot Games SEA partners with YEP

In a bid to further promote grassroots esports development in the Philippines, the Youth Esports Program (YEP) has announced a partnership with global game developer and publisher Riot Games Southeast Asia.

Mineski Philippines launched YEP in February. It aims to develop grassroots esports talent in the Philippines through student initiatives. Through this partnership, students that are part of YEP will gain access to Riot’s speakers through workshops and career talks, participation in activities organized by the publisher, and other support for student initiatives. Among these initiatives are weekly Legends of Runeterra tournaments for YEP chapter orgs, VALORANT content contests, and more.

Tencent Sports has tapped Mineski Global for the Southeast Asian (SEA) qualifiers stage of the World University Cyber League 2020.

Tencent Sports has tapped Mineski Global  for the Southeast Asian (SEA) qualifiers stage of the World University Cyber League (WUCL) 2020. WUCL 2020 is one of the biggest esports tournaments for schools and students. It features the games Clash Royale, League of Legends, and PUBG Mobile.

Schools from the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam have the opportunity to send their teams to vie for honor and glory. The games began on June 28 and will run until July 9. Meanwhile, the finals will be from July 10-15.
